DESIRE TO BE EXCELLENT

Every enviable achievement is delivered by an unswerving desire to see it happen once you are sure it is God’s will. There is no accidental success or excellence, every accidental or instantaneous success can never be maintained by its victim.

No one can be consistently excellent without a desire to be excellent in all they do. Excellent people don’t do excellently once a while, they don’t do excellently only in big things but they make efforts to be excellent in small things. For example, a first class student do not wait for the big end-of-the-semester exam to do well, they contribute well in class and do every little homework with a first class mindset and efforts. Excellent people don’t do excellently only in public things but also in things they do when nobody is watching. They become excellent daily and not in a day.

In order to be excellent, you must have a staunch desire to be an excellent person, doing nothing but your best in every endeavour. Take it that in everything you do, only the best is good enough. The Bible says “Whatever you hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

A desire is simply an inclination to want a particular thing and to be excellent means to be of the highest quality. Therefore, to desire to be excellent means to always have an inclination to want to always do your very best and to want to deliver the highest quality possible in everything you do.

Desiring to be excellent is critical to becoming a person of excellence because excellence is not cheap. It takes effort in the right direction to be excellent. Excellence is painstaking and it takes deliberate attempts to focus on the need and gain of excellence to endure the pain of it.

Do you have a longing to be excellent? Does it matter to you whether what you do or is being done around you is of the best quality or not? Are you satisfied with just anything or only the best possible at any given time and resources? Do you do excellently in small things, personal things and daily? Are you giving your best to your job regardless of how much you are being paid? Think about these questions as they apply to you and desire to be excellent.

So as you move on to greater heights this week, sweep with excellence, dress with excellence, drive with excellence, speak with excellence, smile with excellence, attend to your customers with excellence, sow that cloth with excellence, arrange your hair with excellence, set your shop with excellence. In short, if you will have to do anything at all, DO IT WITH EXCELLENCE. Do it as though that is the only chance you have, or it were the last thing to do on earth.

As you desire to be excellent, great doors of opportunities will open for you in Jesus name.

Every excellent efforts you make will yield amazing results for you in Jesus name.
