BACK TO BASIC

BACK TO BASIC
BY: Adesina Ayodele Abegunde
TEXT: Ephesians 2:8-10

INTRODUCTION
Every ship on the sea has the tendency to drift away from the predetermined destiny. The only way to keep on track is to keep checking the compass and to always return when drifted. Drifting is missing the way which is only noticeable after a very long distance in the wrong direction.
The word “Basic” refers to the rudimentary, elementary, uncomplicated, foundational truth or purpose of a thing. We now live a sophisticated, complicated, confused and a drifting-kind of Christian life. We have added so many things all in the name of being relevant to the dictate of the world.
Why exactly are we saved? What are the basic things that Jesus saved us to live for?
We are SAVED to:

1.      1) SEEK God in worship and discipleship
·         We are not saved to use God, but to seek Him, to be like Him.
Philippians 3:10-11 (MSG)
1 Chronicles 16:10-11 (AMP)

2.      2) SETTLE in families through fellowship
·         God saves individually and plant us in His Body, the church. Every true Christian MUST have a church he/she belongs (not on commercial purpose but on Christian commitment purpose), with zealous attendance and attention to God’s dealings.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (AMP)

3.      3) SERVE God and His people in service
·         We are not saved by good works, but we are save for good works.
Ephesians 2:8-10 (MSG)

4.      4) SAVE others (soul-winning) in evangelism
·         A great evangelist said, “Evangelism is a beggar telling another beggar where to get bread.”
·         What is yourconcern for the perishing? How zealous and bold am I to witness for Jesus?
Mark 16:15 (TLB)
Romans 10:14-15 (TLB)

5.      5) SET men/nationsFREE in missions
·         Jesus still remain the answer for the world today, till tomorrow. But when shall we begin to talk about discipling nations when we are still struggling with ourselves to be correct?
·         The people hurting the world today are disciples of some masters, until we disciple them after the similitude of our own Master Jesus Christ, no hope.
Matthew 28:18-20 (TLB)
Mark 16:17-18 (MSG)

6.      6) SHINE for His glory
·         There is such an enviable glory about the Kingdom of God and about His children that allows Jesus to shine through them. God’s glory is His unweighable-weight, matchless-power, sizeless-size, what makes God, GOD.
·         It is God’s basic plan that we should shine forth His praise.
1 Peter 2:9-10 (AMP)
Daniel 12:3 (TLB)

CONCLUSION
How well are you doing in seeking, settling, serving, saving, setting free and shinning forth His glory? Can you say your Master is satisfied with you? What practical things must you do from here and now? How exactly can you retrace your step back to the basic?

God bless you.
