GOOD FOR NOTHING

Selfishness comes to man naturally. Man is consumed by the ’Me-factor’ or the What’s-in-there-for-me-factor. It is very common to hear the words Me-first, Me-only, Just-me etc without even thinking if anyone would get hurt.
People rarely do anything for nothing. What’s my gain is usually the first thing they would ask. Almost everybody does something to get something directly or indirectly. It’s so bad that we are ‘Good to God’ for something. Its all about what we can do for us and never about what we can do for him. And when we don’t get those things, we get so discouraged. When was the last time you did for God, something for nothing………………….long ago or never?

While it may be true that life is all about Pros and Cons, Cause and Effect, Give and Take, it is God’s desire for us to be ‘Good For Nothing’.
When I say Good for Nothing, I do not mean Uselessness that many people often associate ‘Good for Nothing’ with neither does it mean being Greedy or Selfish. People who are good for nothing will eventually receive something far greater than what they could ever think of getting.

Remember Joseph in the Bible? He was Good for Nothing by first not sleeping with his Master’s wife. Next, he interpreted the Baker and Cupbearer’s dream while he was in Prison! He didn’t allow the Prison situation to debar him from using the Gift he freely received from God. He could have chosen not to interpret the dream. Nobody would have beaten him. But he did interpret the dream and still had to wait for a while before deliverance came to him. He didn’t even get angry at the cupbearer for forgetting him in the Prison. He interpreted Pharaoh’s dream and guess what, he got promoted. I doubt if he saw that coming.

Mordecai too was Good for Nothing. he taught and trained the little orphan girl without even knowing she was going to be Queen someday. Just imagine if he maltreated her, abused her or even sold her into slavery, and she still ended up Queen, do you think she would have cared enough save her people? Mordecais reading this, take care of the Esthers that God has given you. who knows what he/she would be in 20 years.

There is nothing bad in asking as Rahab did to the two spies, but don’t make it a right and don’t get offended when you don’t get anything.
You see, the whole idea of ‘Good for Nothing’ is quite simple. Don’t do things because you want to be rewarded or applauded. Do things with the bigger picture in mind. Do good things with the mindset of meeting a need without getting any reward for it. We have little time on earth here. If we keep doing things for something, we won’t get anything done.

So, are you Good for Nothing or Good for Something.

YOU CAN ONLY GET REALLY BLESSED FOR WHAT YOU CAN’T BE PAID FOR.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
Tewogbade Abegunde

Beloved, with Jesus joy in my heart I welcome you to the month of thanks giving. Remember the post on a grateful heart, this is another opportunity to express our heart of gratitude. Write your own psalm, sing your own song, think deeply and thank God, because the Lord is good and His mercies endures forever.

Johnson Oatman wrote a beautiful piece that should set anyone thinking when it comes to being grateful to God. The first stanza of the song is as follows:

Count your blessing, name them one by one
Count your blessing, see what God has done
Count your blessing name them one by one
Count your many blessing, see what God hath done.

Just make a trial now, pick a pen and a paper, and write out everything God has done from January till date, if you will try like I did, you will suddenly discover that this God is awesome and deserve all your praise. Your testimonies may just be accurately captured by the wordings of this song that says:

God is beautiful beyond description
Too marvelous for worth
Too wonderful for comprehension
Like nothing ever seen or heard
Who can grasp His infinite wisdom?
Who can phantom the depth of His Love?
He is beautiful beyond description
Majesty enthroned above
So I stand in awe of you
All praise due
I stand in awe of you

As we tidy up the activities of this year, remember to celebrate Jesus in all situations. The Psalmist admonishes us to sing a new song to the Lord (Psalm 96 vs 1). Sing a song, write a poem, make a list of how gracious God has been, He is and He is going to be. Remember no one can thank Him enough. God bless you.

Joy will never cease in your life in Jesus name.

Go on rejoicing for you will never know sorrow in Jesus name.

DEALING WITH THE CURRENT ECONOMIC CRISIS 5

Hi there! A very beautiful day it is. I know you love Fridays and you’re screaming Thank God its Friday! It is well with you. Today, we’ll continue with our study on Famine in the Bible.

Last time, I shared with you how God delivered two nations (Israel and Egypt) from being terminated by using Joseph who had Prophetic Intelligence and Revelation. Hope you can still remember? If you can’t, you can read the last post  on Dealing with the Current Economic crisis.

Today, we will be considering the several consequences and Human tendencies in the time of Famine from Genesis 47:13-26.
From vs 13-15 we find the following
     a.     Savings get depleted
     b.     The poor get poorer and the rich get richer
     c.      People feed from hand to mouth
     d.     The purchasing power of money fails and gets devalued
     e.     There is low or no cash.
From vs 16-17  we can find out that people began/begin to sell their possessions in order to feed
vs 18-26 shows another part of the human tendencies
     a.     Forced humility
     b.     Readiness and willingness to do anything with their bodies i.e labour of any kind, prostitution, stealing etc
     c.      People sell out their heritage
     d.     Survival becomes the ultimate for them.
I’m sure that you would have noticed that throughout this study, people always have and still have delusory behavior or attitude, and you will agree with me that God does not want us to do that. He still demands from us total holiness and obedience.
Today and henceforth, God’s blessings will be yours in Jesus name. You shall not experience lack or loss of any kind in Jesus name. The Matchless God is working on your behalf from now on in Jesus name.

Shalom!
